How does WA Q Lamb Work?
Producer members of the WA Q Lamb alliance raise their lambs under a code of practice. The Q Lamb schedule rewards lambs from 18-24kg carcase weight and score 2 to low score 3, (6-10mm & 11-12mm).
Feedback is provided on all WA Q Lamb consignments. This is part of the close working relationship that will be established among all members of the alliance.
Where needed, WA Q Lamb will work closely with producers to develop the management skills that will improve the consistency of meeting WA Q Lamb specifications.
Through market interaction and research Q Lamb has created a product to meet the needs and requirements of consumers, by providing a product high in quality and low in fat content all year round.
Q Lamb producers work with a network of industry professionals to provide current best practices in lamb production. Within this network, it is ensured that a high quality product level is maintained along with a continuous supply of prime lamb.
Hillside Meats abattoir is the only processing facility for Q Lamb and provides technical support for the production of tender, high quality lamb.
The alliance is financed by a levy of $1.00 from lambs branded Q, with 50 cents deducted from producers’ proceeds and 50 cents contributed by the processor.
Quality assurance plays a major role in the Q Lamb Alliance.
